FAQ

Some frequently asked questions… and their answers!

The chiropractic philosophy is to help the body maintain its balance and its innate ability to heal itself. To help you get your optimal health back, chiropractors uses their hands—hence the Greek word “chiro”—as well as specialized equipment to perform chiropractic adjustments. It is soft, comfortable, natural and safe care that can relieve pain and discomfort. In fact, the central nervous system is responsible for communicating information between the brain and different parts of the body. When there is interference, also called subluxation, communication flows may be restricted from working naturally. The role of a chiropractor is to restore this communication by focusing on the causes of the problem in order to maintain or improve current physical condition. Patients do not need a doctorʼs referral to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors are allowed to make a neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis and create a treatment program for your well-being and health goals.

Why take care of your teeth and not your spine? Your spine protects the nervous system, arteries and tissues that keep your heart pumping. Optimal health calls for optimal spinal health.

Life keeps going on and so does stress. Several factors can cause an imbalance:

  • – Your mechanical stress level: falls, poor posture, sports injuries, car accidents, work accidents, repetitive movements, surgeries, bone depreciation or osteoarthritis, malformation… all of these factors can change your physiological structure.
  • – Your chemical stress level: poor nutrition, chemicals inhalation, drug or alcohol abuse, etc.
  • – Your emotional stress level: loss of a loved one, separation, accumulated fatigue, harassment, negativity, mental illness, depression, etc.

Regular adjustments help the body function optimally. The rate for your adjustment will be determined by your needs and stress level.

Maintain the adjustment for as long as possible. Imagine your healing potential when your body always works perfectly.

It is important to understand and make the correct diagnosis, but most importantly, to find the actual source of the problem. Thus, the term used is “vertebral subluxation complex (VSC).” Chiropractic treats the entire complex to help the body function better; symptoms wear off gradually.

“Better than 90 percent of the energy output of the brain is used in relating the physical body in its gravitational field. The more mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy available for thinking, metabolism and healing.” (Dr. Roger Sperry, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1981 for his research on the brain.)
